<p> Alongside the launch of its 911 range, German luxury carmaker Porsche has announced the tentative launch of its Panamera range in India, next year. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Pavan Shetty, Director of Porsche India, said: “The next level of steady growth in India will come from new model launches and expansion in the dealership network.”<br /><br />The company currently has a network of five sales-cum-service outlets in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata; a sales outlet in Gurgaon; and service outlets in Hyderabad and Chandigarh. <br /><br />“We are currently in the exploration stage, in terms of location and space. Within the next year, we plan two sales-cum-service outlets in Hyderabad and Chennai,” he said.<br /><br />About the 911 launch, he said, “With its unique success story, the Porsche 911 is a car that has achieved iconic status over the decades and we are immensely pleased to be sharing its latest evolution with our enthusiasts and customers here in India. This model represents standard-setting sports car performance along with the convenience of everyday usability, all packaged in a legendary design.” With geographical barriers dissolving, the luxury car market in the country boasts of 35,000 cars and is fast evolving. Porsche sold 408 cars in the calendar year 2015. <br /><br />Shetty said, “As a premium brand, Porsche is cherished by the well-travelled, well-read Indian. Our endeavour is to maintain a premium position in the market and therefore we don’t chase numbers. That wouldn’t be the right way to do luxury.”<br /><br />The company thus works on a demand-driven manufacturing model. “No Porsche is ever made without a customer name on it,” he augmented.
