Wipro, one of the leading Bengaluru-headquartered IT services company, has launched a security platform to offer cybersecurity services to clients.

"We recently launched the Cyber Defence Platform (CDP) to offer security services to our customers. It helps us to be a leader in the security space," Wipro Chief Operating Officer Bhanumurthy told DH.

Bhanumurthy said that when looking at the threat scenario everyone would like to know from where the threat is originating.

"If I see a threat coming from one environment to another, CDP will alert all others to work together and work fast. It helps others to be vigilant and get ready for any eventuality," he said.

Bhanumurthy pointed out that Wipro comes on the top in security business compared with any other competitor. "Our cybersecurity proposition is one of the best in class and it is witnessing good traction in the market. Wipro is also publishing research papers on cybersecurity every quarter," he said.

He also said the company has established Cyber Security Labs along with CDP. "It is located at every centre or spoke of the company around the globe. We also run threat detection centres and security operation centres across the globe.," said Bhanumurthy.

According to Gartner, the global cyber security market has been classified into IAM (identity and access management), encryption, governance, risk and compliance, UTM (unified threat management), and SIEM (security information and event management).

The company's capability in cybersecurity is further strengthened by acquisitions made in Israel, North America and India. Wipro has invested in six companies working in the security space in these countries for the past 12 to 14 months.

"Our investments are focused on companies which are in cybersecurity of the future. It includes threat detection and forecasting threats among others. We are integrating all these capabilities," he said.

The tech giant, through its investment arm Wipro Ventures, has invested in US-based cybersecurity company Vectra Networks and risk and fraud prevention firm Emailage Corporation. Wipro also invested $8.83 million in application security company Denim Group.

According to a recent study, the global cybersecurity market is expected to grow at a double-digit CAGR from 2018 to 2023, leading to global revenue of $193.76 billion by 2023.

According to IDG’s State of the CIO 2018 report, cybersecurity is vital to the business world, ranking as the top priority for more than 36% of CEOs worldwide in their digital transformation.
