Sending out a strong message to encroachers of various water bodies in and around Bengaluru, the district administration on Tuesday announced that it would soon take up an eviction drive.

Addressing media persons, B M Vijay Shankar, Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru Urban, said the district administration has already held two rounds of meeting with various stakeholders and will soon take up demolition drive.

Vijay Shankar said, “Polluted water has been let into lakes in several parts of the city. According to our survey, as many as 10 lakes have been polluted by untreated sewage. We have held two rounds of meeting with the departments concerned and will soon evict encroachers.”

The deputy commissioner said that residents are erasing encroachment markings at some locations. “Considering these types of activities, we have directed the surveyors to work with the district administration until the completion of the demolition drive. The eviction exercise will begin soon,” he said.
