Two men cheated a techie by handing over brick wrapped in packet instead of an iphone and a laptop that they had promised. The incident took place near Venkatapura under Madiwala police limits on Thursday.

The police said the complainant Venkat Narayana, a resident of HSR Layout, was going home after work. As he reached Venkatapura Road, two men approached Narayana and showed him an Iphone and a laptop. The duo told Narayana that they were in need of money and were willing to sell them at a low price. Narayana examined the mobile phone and laptop and was satisfied with the condition of the gadgets. After negotiations, they settled for Rs 60,000. The victim told the duo that he would withdraw the money from a nearby ATM and returned. Narayana handed over the cash to the duo and took the parcel with him.

As soon as the duo took the money, they told Narayana they were in a hurry and fled. Narayana went home and opened the packet only to find a brick. He narrated the incident to the Madiwala police who visited the spot. They are trying to check if the CCTV footage has recorded the incident.

A case has been registered in Madiwala police station and investigation is on.
