Around 6,500 poor students from colleges across Karnataka were provided with textbooks as part of the Rajasthan Youth Association's (RYA) 44th Annual Book Bank and scholarship programme recently.

The RYA will pay the annual fee of more than 300 students, besides offering support to colleges that lack sports infrastructure. It is also helping nine rural colleges across Karnataka to set up five badminton courts, five volleyball courts and 10 table tennis courts, besides offering the required sports equipment.

The association has also donated complete sporting gear to three young cricketers named Fazlulla, Naghma and Rizwan. The cricket kits include bats, balls, shoes, gloves, pads, helmets and clothes.

Rahman, the father of the cricketers, is an auto-rickshaw driver and is unable to meet their cricketing expenses. Having realised their talent in the game, the Karnataka Institute of Cricket is training them for free.
