Municipal officials have found yet another Covid-19 cluster, this time at a popular pub in Indiranagar.

At least 11 people associated with Toit Brewpub were found positive on Sunday but disclosed only on Monday. All of the individuals are asymptomatic and have been allowed to isolate themselves at home, according to Dr Siddapaji, the BBMP officer in charge of health, East Zone.

He added that the positive cases were found through routine checking of restaurant, hotel and pub staff across the zone. Mukesh Tolani, the owner of Toit Brewpub, clarified that the testing is part of a tie-up with the BBMP to test the staff every Friday for the last six months.

According to the BBMP, there are 99 primary contacts and 119 secondary contacts of the cluster.

He added that eight of the 11 people who tested were staff, with the rest being family members of the staffers. "A total of 120 of our staff last Friday. When the staff were tested positive on Sunday, we immediately closed down the place and sanitised the entire pub," he said.

He added that the information of the positive staffers had also been conveyed to customers who had come in through reservations last week. "They have been informed to get themselves tested. In the meantime, we are re-testing all 120 staffers on Tuesday and if they come out as negative, we will reopen the place from Wednesday," he said.

On Sunday, a cluster was found at 1522 - The Pub on New BEL Road. Sixteen out of 87 staffers had tested positive for the disease.
