A 23-year-old pregnant woman allegedly committed suicide at her house in Electronics City on Wednesday. However, her family members cried foul and alleged that her death was suspicious and could even be a murder by her own husband.

The victim, Sana Syed, was married to Nadeem for two years and was five months pregnant. According to the police, the incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon when she did not open the door to her room. Her husband left for work at 9 am and when he returned in the afternoon he assumed that Sana was sleeping. However, when she did not open the door even after some time he alerted his neighbours and broke open the door to find her hanging.

The police rushed to the spot after they were informed and shifted her body to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. Preliminary probe revealed that the couple had differences over trivial issues and often quarreled. There was no suicide note. However, Sana’s mother alleged that her husband had murdered her.

The Electronics City police have registered a case of unnatural death under suspicious circumstances and are awaiting postmortem reports to confirm the cause of death.

Sana had an MSc degree in Clinical Research and worked at a reputed cardiac hospital on Hosur Road in Southeast Bengaluru. Nadeem works for a private company and was also doing business. The couple lived at a villa in Concorde in Electronics City, the police said.
