Sales exec molests woman, held

The city police arrested a 23-year-old sales executive on charges of molestation when he inappropriately touched a woman customer on the pretext of making her try a new outfit at a clothing apparel shop at a prominent mall in Malleswaram.

The arrested, identified as Faizal, is a resident of Srirampuram and the police have booked him under IPC section 354-A — sexual harassment.

According to the police, the incident happened on the evening of August 4 when the 59-year-old woman customer had come to Biba Apparels on the first floor of Mantri Square Mall on Sampige Road. Faizal, on the pretext of helping her try a new outfit, touched her inappropriately. The woman protested and then headed to the Malleswaram police station, where she lodged a complaint. The police arrested Faizal the same day, produced him before a magistrate and remanded him in judicial custody. Further investigations are underway.
