Three killed in road accidents on Thursday

Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the wee hours of Thursday.

A 27-year-old software engineer, Surya Teja, was killed on the spot after he lost control of his bike and it jumped across the median crashing into a shop’s wall near KR Puram. He sustained head injury as he was not wearing a helmet and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.

Passersby who spotted him in a pool of blood alerted KR Puram police who rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A senior police officer said that Teja, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, worked at a private firm in ITPB and lived in Ramamurthy Nagar. He was returning home after dropping one of his friends after dinner.

In another incident, a 19-year-old, Purnachandra, was killed on the spot after a speeding bus knocked down his motorcycle on Thursday morning.

Since he had a holiday, Purnachandra went to Bidadi with his friends to have ‘Tatte Idli’. As he neared NICE Road near Kengeri, a KSRTC bus heading to Mysuru knocked him down and dragged him for a few feet before coming to a halt.

The police said he was a first-year student of engineering and a resident of Vijaya Nagar. Despite wearing a helmet, he sustained severe head injuries and was killed on the spot. Passersby rushed him to a hospital but he was declared brought dead.

In yet another incident, a 25-year-old daily wager, Mahatap Naik, died near Devanahalli after a cab knocked him down while he was crossing a road on Wednesday night. He was rushed to NIMHANS but died on Thursday morning. The Devanahalli police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the cab driver.
