. After visiting his house, MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy met Munegowda, the earlier landlord of Kaval Byrasandra whose house was also vandalised. While he apologised to Munegowda for the damages to his property, Murthy vowed to fight for justice and get compensation for the vehicle owners and several others who lost their properties in the violence

. A day after the loot and arson of his house, Pulakeshinagar MLA R Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy entered the house and searched for his mother’s mangalsutra.

The Congress legislator put out an emotional request through the media for the mangalsutra to be returned as it holds several memories and relationships. It was some consolation when his brother’s son found the jewellery.

. The police have registered nine FIRs against 22 key accused and several others in connection with Tuesday night’s riots and arson in DJ Halli and KG Halli in east and northeastern Bengaluru.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police also arrested 10 main suspects, all members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which is named in the FIRs.

A day after the violent attack on the house of Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy in Kaval Byrasandra and subsequent riots, arsoning in DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits, the police officials have registered a total of seven FIRs (First Information Report) in both DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations.

. The three people killed in the police firingon Tannery Road on Tuesday night were actually bystanders caught in the crossfire, their families claimed.

. Scores of policemen, including senior officers, suffered injurieswhile controlling the rampaging mob on Tuesday night.

. When it comes to defamatory postings on social media, P Naveen is a serial offender.

Sources revealed that Naveen, nephew of MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy and the second son of his sister, has a history of posting derogatory content triggering hatred. He posted abusive content on August 5 about the Padarayanapura incident.

. The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has denied in role in the violence that occurred in the northeast part of Bengaluru on Tuesday night.

“As always, the SDPI is being dragged just to cover-up police inaction against blasphemy and failure of intelligence,” SDPI Karnataka president Elyas Muhammad Thumbe said.

“A person named Naveen had been making inflammatory comments on Islam for the past couple of days. When people went to complain, the police dragged their feet because he was the relative of the local MLA,” Thumbe said. “The violence shouldn’t have happened, but it did and the only only reason for that is the inefficiency of the police and Naveen’s (inflammatory) post.”

Thumbe confirmed that Muzammil Pasha, a prime accused in the rioting, belonged to the SDPI. “But he was there with the police trying to calm people down. We can see him in videos doing that,” Thumbe said.

. The ruling BJP in Karnataka on Wednesday accused the Congress of not being "vocal" against rioters who attacked a legislator of the opposition party in Bengaluru, saying "appeasement" seemed to be its official policy.

The BJP also said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa must make the rioters pay heavily for destruction of properties.

"Shameful n disgusting! Karnataka Congress is silent on yesterday's vandalism in Bengaluru. Pseudos are also not vocal against this riot! Freedom from fear of riots is what B'luru needs now. . Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka has informed Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa that three councillors are said to be involved in the rioting that took place in KG Halli, DJ Halli and Kaval Byrasandra on Tuesday night.

. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday directed DG&IGP Praveen Sood to act tough on those responsible for the Tuesday night violence in KG Halli and DJ Halli limits besides deployment of additional forces to ensure law and order in the area.

. "The District Magistrate has ordered a thorough investigation into the riots that took place in the jurisdiction of Godavanavahalli and Kadugodanahalli police stations in Bengaluru," said Karnataka CM B S Yediyurappa.

. Terming the violence in the city as a 'well planned act,' Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka on Wednesday said the 'traitors,' who perpetrated the riots would be dealt with an iron hand and steps would be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy at Vidhana Soudha here, Ashoka said, "The manner in which the riots were perpetrated shows that it was a well planned act and was intended to spread to other parts of the city.These are traitors and we will subdue them."

As many as three people were killed in the police firing and scores other injured including 50 policemen in the violence that erupted on Tuesday night at D J Halli in Pulakeshinagar locality over an alleged social media post on a 'communally sensitive' issue posted by the MLA's relative.

The Minister said the law maker's house was completely damaged and belongings including, sarees and jewels were looted while the rest was set on fire.

"It is clear from the intensity of vandalism that the intention was to attack and finish off Srinivasa Murthy. It has to be investigated whether any anti-social elements from within the state and outside were involved," Ashoka said.

. A magisterial enquiry will be carried out into the rioting witnessed in Bengaluru on late Tuesday evening. Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the government will also recover losses to public property from those who were responsible for rioting.

Speaking to reporters, he said that following a high-level meeting with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, it was decided to conduct a magesterial enquiry by the district executive magistrate as per National Human Rights Commission guidelines. As per the same, district magistrate will probe the incident, he said.

"One of the important announcements I want to make is that the recovery of losses (for damaged property), as per Supreme Court directions, should be recovered from the persons behind the incident. That action we are going to take immediately," he said.

. "Yesterday some unknown people set my house on fire, they hurled petrol bombs. Police should investigate & take action against culprits. If this can happen to an MLA, what would happen to others?" asksCongress MLA Srinivasamurthy, whose residence in Bengaluru was attacked last night.

"I have spoken to Home Minister, Police officials & my party leaders over the incident. All those who did this are not from my constituency, they are outsiders. It will be good if I get security," he said.

. Revenue Minister R Ashoka has informed Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa that three councillors are said to be involved in the rioting that took place in KG Halli, DJ Halli and Kaval Byrasandra on Tuesday night.

Ashoka said this to Yediyurappa during a phone call in the presence of Congress’ Pulikeshinagar legislator Akhanda Srinivas Murthy. Ashoka held talks with Murthy at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

“The MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy is here with me. He was saying that SPDI is involved. Three corporators are also involved,” Ashoka is heard telling Yediyurappa on the phone.

The Pulikeshinagar assembly constituency has seven municipal wards: Kushal Nagar, Kaval Byrasandra, Devarajeevana Halli, Muneshwara Nagar, Sagayapuram, SK Garden and Pulikeshinagar.

. Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka said the government “will not sit quiet” until everyone accused of rioting in northeast Bengaluru on Tuesday night is arrested.

“The accused will be smoked out of their holes. We will barge into their homes, we will enter the streets and get to all corners where they are hiding. We will find all of them,” Ashoka told reporters. “The chief minister has clearly said there should be merciless action.”

. Areas under Pulakeshinagar assembly constituency here resembled a war zone on Wednesday, hours afteran unruly mob went on a rampage torching vehicles, irked over a 'communally sensitive' social media post allegedly by put up by a relative of a Congress MLA.

Charred vehicles, shards of glass from broken windows, stones and bricks lie strewn over the deserted roads of the violence-affected localities.

Earlier, three people were killed in police firing and scores of others wounded, including at least 50 policemen in the violence and arson that erupted in the city on Tuesday night and continued till the wee hours of Wednesday. (PTI)

. Recalling the horrific incident that happened on Tuesday night, Congress MLA from Pulikeshinagar Akhanda Srinivas Murthy said that about 3,000 to 4,000 people attackedhis house.

An emotional Srinivas Murthy, with tears in his eyes, said, "The miscreants were armed with sharp weapons, sticks, rods and petrol bombs. They have looted our house, stolen so many things, and torched the entire house. The house was where I was born and raised. Today it is completely gutted and beyond repair. We have lost a home of 50 years. All my brothers living with me have no place to live. It appears that the miscreants' aim was to kill me. I have not seen this in the last 25-years and I appeal to the government to punish those responsible for this. Last night, Revenue minister R Ashok visited the house and provided us the security."

Referring to the relationship with Naveen, who is said to have put out a "blasphemous" post on Facebook, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy said, "Naveen is my nephew but does not have any relation with him for over 10-years."

. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday directed DG & IGP Praveen Sood to act tough on those responsible for the Tuesday night violence in KG Halli and DJ Halli limits besides deploymen of additional forces to ensure law and order in the area. Karnataka Police Chief Praveen Sood on Wednesday met the CM and briefed him about about the developments since yesterday night.

Later CM directed the DG & IGP to deploy as many force as possible in the area to take control of the situation. He also directed Praveen Sood to hold talks with the local leaders from the Muslim community. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant had also met CM and briefed him about the incident in the morning.

. The ruling BJP, the opposition Congress and JD(S) condemned the Tuesday night riots in northeast Bengaluru and called it “a planned conspiracy.”

. Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the police had to resort to firing as a last step to bring the violence under control at DJ Halli and K G Halli limits. The priority before the state government now is to maintain law and order, he told mediapersons in Udupi. Six additional CRPF platoons have been called from Hyderabad and Chennai, to Bengaluru. Rapid action force, Garuda commandos have been deployed at the spot, he added.

. Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi said that the violence at K G Halli in Bengaluru on Tuesday night appears to be a conspiracy to disturb peace. Violence if does not come under control, police should use force and shoot at sight those involved in it.

. According to sources in the Bengaluru police, DJ Halli cops have arrested a political activist belonging to SDPI party and identified as Muzzamil Pasha. The accused had also contested BBMP election last time from Sagayapura ward unsuccessfully.

. The third person who was severely injured succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Wednesday at Bowring hospital in Shivajinagar.

. Curfew has been imposed in BanaswadiPolice Sub-Division, in Bengaluru after an irate mob on Tuesday night attacked the house of Congress MLAAkhanda Srinivasamurthy over a defamatory post against religion. Two persons died and three others were injured in the attack.

. Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has now ordered deploying of City Armed Reserve (CAR), Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons. Garuda commandos have also been deployed in the area to carry out patrolling along with the law and order and traffic police in KG Halli and DJ Halli police station jurisdiction.

. During the stone-pelting incident, both Commissioner Kamal Pant and DCPs were also hit. As the commissioner was wearing the armour. Even though the helmet worn by the commissioner was damaged, he escaped unhurt.

. Trying to control the situation and disperse the crowd, the police fired in the air in front of the KG Halli police station. However, there was no sign of control as the mob continued with their violence protest. In the resulting violence, one person was found dead while the three others were injured severely. However, the police refused to confirm whether the person died in the firing, violence or stampede.

. The protesters even attacked the vehicle of North-East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bheemashankar Guled. Trying to take control of the situation, the DCP visited the spot and he was stopped by the protesters in front of the police station gate and began pelting stones. Even as the police personnel were escorting the DCP to a safe location, the mob attacked the car and damaged it. They also assaulted the driver of the vehicle.

. The government will take action against those who are responsible behind the attack. Resorting to violence, torching of vehicles is against the law and not a solution to any problems. Any issue can be legally pursued and taken to a logical end. I have already directed the police commissioner to visit the spot and take control of the situation. We have also deployed enough police force in the area and additional KSRP platoons will be deployed:Basavaraj Bommai, Home Minister

. Following the violent protests, Chamarajpet MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan also rushed to the spot and visited KG Halli police station. According to sources, Police Commissioner Kamal Pant also rushed to the spot.

. In the meantime, MLA Akhana Srinivasamurthy released a video appeal and said, "I appeal to all my Muslim brethren to maintain peace and not to get carried away by the rumours and miscreants words. Be it a Hindu or Muslim, we all are equal. Whoever it may be trying to disrupt the harmony, they will be dealt with seriously and will be punished by the police as per the law. But let us not resort to this violence and I request all of you to keep calm."

. Following the incident, over 600 people stormed the KG Halli police station venting their anger and demanding justice. The incident which occurred at around 9:00 pm went out of control in less than an hour after the mob began to torch the vehicles and vandalise the houses nearby. Gripped by panic, the residents staying in surrounding areas were seen leaving houses along with kids and women to other areas.

. Sources close to the MLA revealed to DH that the mob was reportedly angered over a derogatory Facebook post about religion, alleged to have been posted by MLA's brother-in-law. A few others also revealed that the post was put up by the MLA's personal assistant. However, Bengaluru police revealed to DH that they are yet to verify these allegations. The mob took control of the area and sealed five to six crosses barring access to police personnel and fire and emergency service personnel.
