A history-sheeter who shot at a Central Crime Branch (CCB) police team to escape had himself been shot and captured at Uttarahalli on Wednesday afternoon.

‘Cycle’ Ravi had been involved in over 24 criminal cases, including six murders and four attempts to murder. He tried to deceive the police to flee in an SUV. The cops who followed him after a tip-off intercepted him.

Ravi fired twice at the police and sped away. But the CCB officials chased down two kilometres and forced him to stop the car.

When they tried to pull Ravi out, he shot at the police team and injured constable Sathish. Police inspector Prakash and another policeman Mallikarjun fired back at him as he was dangerous and armed.

Ravi sustained wounds to his abdomen and right leg and was taken to Rajarajeshwari Nagar hospital. The injured constable was taken to a private hospital where his condition is said to be stable and out of danger.

Police have recovered a country-made pistol and a Toyota Fortuner SUV that Ravi was using. Efforts are also on to ascertain the source of the firearm.
