Bengaluru's Electronic City police arrested a delivery boy for allegedly assaulting a female customer while delivering her order. The injured woman posted a video of her bleeding nose on social media platforms, garnering huge attention.

The arrested has been identified as Kamaraj, 35, a resident of Channakeshavanagar, working as a delivery boy with food-delivery company and restaurant aggregator Zomato. The customer and victim, Hitesha Chandranee, a content writer, allegedly fought with the delivery boy over delay in her order delivery. The incident happened on Tuesday. Kamaraj is charged with assault and intentional insult according to an investigating officer.

Hitesha filed a complaint on Wednesday and Kamaraj was arrested within a few hours. Kamaraj told the police in his defence that the delay in Hitesha'a order was only a few minutes and due to traffic restrictions, but the woman made him wait for a long time. She allegedly wanted the food for free and it was she who started arguing and abused him by hurling things at him.

Hitesha, in a post on social media, stated that because of the delay in delivery, she was talking to Zomato's customer care. She ordered food around 3.30 pm, but the delivery was made around 4.30 pm, and so, she was asking the company to cancel her order. Though she requested him to wait till she got clarification from the customer care, he reportedly started abusing her and barged into the house and punched her face and ran away.

Zomato in reply to a post on Twitter said, "We can assure you this is not the experience our delivery universe uphold. Our local team is in touch with Hitesha to help her with the police investigation along with assistance on the medical care required. We can not emphasise how sorry we are, rest assured we are taking all necessary actions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future."

The police said, Kamaraj has been sent to judicial custody for the assault and further investigation is on.
