Two arrested for drug peddling

The police have arrested an MBA graduate and his associate for selling marijuana near Madivala lake on Friday. They have recovered 9.6 kg of the contraband drug from them.

According to the police, the accused Bhanutej (19), a diploma student from Vishakapatnam, would peddle the drugs from his hometown and hand it over to Sanjay Kumar (25), the MBA student, in the city who would then sell it to his clients and other contacts.

A senior police officer said, Sanjay worked at a private firm but quit his job due to his addiction and began to sell drugs full-time with his friend. The police have booked the duo under several sections of NDPS Act and have taken them into custody for further interrogation.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths, on Friday, had arrested 29-year-old Pratheek Shetty, a city based software engineer for peddling drugs. Pratheek worked in a city-based software firm and would peddle drugs for extra money, a senior police officer said. An addict, he came in contact with Faith Cuks (34) and Kante Henry (24), both South African nationals, and sold cocaine and ecstasy pills to their clients.
