In their reply to the show-cause notice issued by the Assembly Speaker, they have said that they withdrew support to Yeddyurappa with the only intention of saving the BJP government and hence, do not attract provisions of anti-defection law.

They have said that in the letter submitted to the Governor it is stated that their grouse was only against the chief minister.
The legislators have claimed themselves to the disciplined soldiers of the BJP.
The rebels sent their reply through JD(S) MLC Abdul Azeem and an advocate. The Speaker refused to accept it stating that the MLAs should appear in person.
The rebels who have sent the reply are: Belur Gopalakrishna, Anand Asnotikar, Balachandra Jarkiholi, Y Sampangi, Nanjundaswamy, Nagaraj M V, Bagali and Baramagouda Kage.
