Control room abuzz with calls

H ello... Where is raitha Dasara? Where can i get tickets for jamboo savari? Where is the venue of food mela? These are among the frequently asked questions over  phone at the district control room.

The control room which is a permanent feature at DC’s office is also receiving calls regarding Dasara festivities. To facilitate the people especially tourists to guide them towards Dasara programmes, the district administration that also holds the responsibility of celebrating the festival, extended the control room numbers ‘1077’ and 2423800 for Dasara related queries too.

Those calling from Mysore can ring ‘1077’ toll-free and 2423800 is for outstation callers. All they have to do in the latter case is prefix STD code-0821. The same numbers are also published on Dasara website. Since October 8, the day the festival was inaugurated atop Chamundi Hills by Srikshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, the control room is flooded with calls.

Recently there was an enquiry from faraway Mahdya Pradesh too. The caller wanted to know about availability of gold cards and torchlight parade. Apart from that, most of the calls are within the State from faraway Raichur to Chitradurga, besides surrounding districts like Bangalore and others. On an average, 50 to 60 calls per day are pertaining to Dasara only. Majority of the enquiries are about programme venues and landmarks to reach them.
