Bribery: Lokayukta traps doctor

Dr B Rajashekar is the doctor who fell into the Lokayukta net. It is said that Mahadevaiah and his daughter Rajeshwari of Mallaianapura taluk had approached him for the medical certificate to declare them complete blind. The father-daughter duo were hitherto getting a pension of Rs 400 given by the government. The government had recently announced a pension of Rs 1,000 for those who are 80 per cent blind. Accordingly, they had come to the hospital to get the necessary medical certificate. Rajashekar allegedly demanded Rs 300 each to issue the certificates and later agreed Rs 500 bribe from both.

Mahadevaiah had complained to the Lokayukta in this regard. DySP Hanumantharayappa and team arrested the doctor at his chamber while he was accepting the money.

Girl killed in mishap

A girl was killed on the spot and eight injured when an autorickshaw and a car collided head-on near Traveller’s Bungalow in Santhemarahalli on Tuesday.

 The deceased has been identified as Arpita (10). It is said that the car coming from Chamarajanagar hit the auto. Arpita who was travelling in the auto died on the spot. The car driver fled the scene.

Santhemarahalli police have registered a case.
