HC vacates stay on building skywalks

Last Updated 22 October 2010, 19:05 IST

Hearing a petition by Vijaya Innovative Concepts, Justice Mohan Shantanagowdar vacated the interim stay,  permitting the BBMP to construct 13 skywalks. The petitioners had moved the High Court after the BBMP began work on the skywalks.

They contended that they had made a representation to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on construction of 100 unique skywalks with capsule lift under Swiss Challenge Mode.

Under this proposal, which is an alternative to the transparency act, the BBMP will have to call for a bidding. If any proposed company matches the bidding, it would bag the tender.
But the BBMP said that the proposal is not binding on it and there is no uniqueness in the project, as the BBMP has already constructed skywalks with elevators.

The matter has been adjourned.
