The families that are ostracised are of  B Shankar, Rachappaji, Ramashetty, B Mahadev, Shivamallushetty, Mudduveerashetty, Veerashetty, Kamalamma and Siddappaswami. Shankar had sold his site to Grama Panchayat for Rs 25,000 much against the wish of village head.

In fact those heads had asked him to give that site free of cost to build a community hall.
As Shankar and his family members failed to heed to demand of villagers, the latter imposed a social boycott on those families. The fellow villagers were warned against talking with those family members. Besides, the elders also decided to impose a fine of Rs 25,000 on anybody who was found talking to any member of that family.

Recently, one of the family members of Shankar died and none of the villagers helped him in conducting last rites. Finally, it was done with the help of people from Mullur and Madhuvanahalli villages.

No villager participated in the marriage function of the ostracised family. Shankar and his family met the governor, deputy commissioner, SP and tahsildar in this regard. But the district administration has been silent in this regard.

Peace meet

Even, Tahsildhar Dr V Venkateshmurthy and Deputy Superintendent of Police visited the village and held a peace meeting. But the people of Kollegalamole village did not budge.
B Nataraj, a villager claimed that no one has ostracised Shankar and his family members. He said Shankar was making baseless allegations for selfish motive. Tahsildhar Dr V Venkteshmurthy told Deccan Herald that one more round of meeting will be held in Kollegalmole village on October 27 to find a permanent solution.
