Special arrangements for Haj pilgrims

Over 1,400 passengers have departed till date and in the next two months over 6,200 pilgrims are expected to transit through the airport, 200 up from last year.

Together with the Haj committee, the check-in, customs clearance and immigration processes are being done in the City to ensure a very short waiting time and a relaxed start to the journey.

The exclusive 1,550 sq mtr terminal equipped with immigration counters, check-in counters and security scanners can handle 600 passengers. With direct access to the air side, passengers have easy access to their waiting aircraft. Ten BIAL operations personnel, including a terminal manager have been designated to the Haj terminal operations.  

To meet the pilgrims’ prayer requirements, designated prayer rooms for men and women have been made available. Special arrangements have been made for seating and boarding of pilgrims who need wheelchair assistance. Medical assistance in addition to the medical facility at subsidised rates by the Columbia Asia has also been made available.
