Wife, sons get lifer for killing man

The Cuttack district and sessions court of B K Mishra yesterday found Anusaya Mohapatra (52) as the mastermind for killing her husband Ajay Mohapatra (55) with the help of her two sons, Bibhuti (29) and Ratikanta (24).Convicting the trio under section 302 of the IPC, the court sentenced life imprisonment to them and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
According to the case inter alia, Anasuya was of the belief that her husband had illicit relationship with her elder daughter-in-law for which she was feeling neglected and having no control over the daughter-in-law.

The prosecution had said that Anasuya was the mastermind behind the heinous crime for she instigated her sons to go against their father and hatched a plan to eliminate him.
Accordingly, Anasuya cajoled her husband to go to a deserted place near a canal behind their house on the night of March 27, 2009 where Bibhuti and Ratikanta were hiding behind a bush.As soon as the couple arrived at the spot, the three strangulated Ajay to death
