Talk on nurturing life skills

Inaugurated by Dr R M Ranganath, Registrar (Administration) of Bangalore University, the auditorium was packed with participants from all across the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr R M Ranganath focused on the division of society on urban and rural basis. He analysed the problems of education in rural areas. He opined that economy must be integrated with efficient use of ecological resources.

Dr H S Ashok, Chairman, Department of Psychology and Counselling, Bangalore University delivered the keynote address. He gave an in-depth lecture about the importance life skills, how to nurture them and in what way they can be acquired.

Dr Wooday P Krishna, General Secretary of the Seshadripuram Educational Trust said that work ethics in India are different compared to other parts of the world and a wholesome mindset is required for advancement in the field of education.

R A Chetan Ram, founder and MD of AMCAD Bangalore conducted a session on motivation for excellence. He said that the teaching community must be a source of motivation for their students. He explained that self-motivation is the best form of motivation in the pursuit of excellence.

P G Parimila, a personality development trainer conducted a session on emotional intelligence. She explained the various factors and levels of emotional intelligence and said that teaching as a profession has a lot of emotion attached to it.

The post lunch session had Dr H Lajipathi Rai, Professor and Dean, School of Commerce and Management, S K University, Ananthpur having a session on how to stay fit in a negative environment. Nemichandra, a writer and DGM of HAL Bangalore conducted a session on balancing work and life. She emphasised on how the teaching community must teach the students to value their life and believe in their strengths to achieve their goals.

The sessions were thoroughly appreciated by the participants. The faculty development programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony where certificates were distributed to all the participants. With the combined efforts of the management, faculty members, staff and students and others, the event was a grand success.
