In his address after distributing sarees to the Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries, he said the first installment of about  ` 25 crores will be released immediately to fund various development projects in the district.

All the pending development projects will be completed soon, he said. His announcement came in response to the District Incharge Minister V Somanna’s appeal to release Rs 100 crore package for the district.

Yeddyurappa who focused on women and environment in his speech, stressed on need to educate girl child throughout his speech.

He said his Government was working on fixing a retirement age for Anganwadi workers and introducing pension scheme for them.  Also, the Government plans to start special bank on lines of rural banking to help women groups and self help groups.

He said the Bhagyalakshmi scheme was planned not to get any mileage but genuinely work for the empowerment of women.

It would also help boost their confidence levels. “There are a lot of complaints about middlemen trying to lure parents promising them a bond. The parents should stay away from these middlemen,” the Chief Minister stated adding that the parents would get the insurance bond delivered to their home by post.

The Chief Minister appealed to the parents to ensure they provide good education to girls. The saree distribution would not be restricted to only this year.

We would disburse the sarees to the Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries during the Dasara
period.

He thanked the opposition parties for allowing the programme to be held without problems in city.

District Incharge Minister V Somanna said the Government would not differentiate between the projects started during previous governments or the current government.
On this occasion, Minister for Women and Child Welfare C C Patil said his department would cover 100 per cent population of Hassan district while identifying Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries.

Now, the Government has distributed sarees to 32000 beneficiaries out of the total 34000 beneficiaries. The remaining 2000 people will be covered very soon, he said.
