Child killed at Lalu's rally

 
According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy took place minutes after Lalu left the venue. A large number of on-lookers had climbed on the dais after the election meeting was over to get a glimpse of the former railway minister. As the number of on-lookers swelled, the wooden dais caved in. As a consequence, a child was trapped in the wreckage. The injured boy succumbed to injuries while being rushed to a hospital in Varanasi.

RJD sources, however, said another dais nearby from which Md Azharuddin had canvassed for Congress nominees two days ago, caved in on Wednesday after large number of people climbed on it to have a glimpse of Lalu’s helicopter.

Meanwhile, BJP patriarch L K Advani said it was a matter of regret that the Supreme Court had to comment on the silence maintained by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the 2G spectrum scam.
