‘Bhavanotsava’

Ananya is organising a music and dance programme Bhavanotsava-2010 on November 20 and 21 at Khincha Hall at 6 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. 

The programme will feature dance recitals by Yashagana child artist K Pavithra and an Ananya Nruthya by the students of Chithkala Schools of Dance. There will be a Sri Rama Vaibhava Bharatanatyam feature by Drishti Art Centre.

The programme on November 21 is a music recital by students of Samanvaya Kalakendra.

Cultural treat

Shambhavi Dance Ensemble will present Janani Janma Bhoomischa, a dance feature choreographed and directed by Vyjayanthi Kashi at JSS Auditorium in Jayanagar on November 21 at 11 am.

Janani Janma Bhoomischa is an event in the form of dance, which holds significance in the cultural vibrancy of India, particularly in Karnataka.

The ensemble will also perform a Kuchipudi Antharanga on the same day at 7.30 pm
at National Gallery of Modern Art Auditorium, Palace Road.

Recital

The Saralaya sisters will perform at the MES College cultural forum, the MES Kalavedi on November 21, 6.30 pm at the new conference hall, MES College, 15th Cross, Malleswaram.

Mandolin strains

Music Circle, Chandra Layout is organising a Carnatic mandolin concert by Vidwan Arvind Bhargav, disciple of U Srinivas, on November 20, 6.15 pm at no 12, Basaveshwara HBCS, 7th cross, 2nd Main, Chandra Layout. He will be accompanied by B Vittala Rangan on the violin, B S Prashanth on the mridangam and R Karthik on the kanjira. For details, call 23212939.

Music festival

Academy of Music is hosting a Grand Music Festival from November 24 to 28 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall at 6.30 pm. The K K Murthy Memorial Chowdiah Award will be presented on the occasion. 

Performance

The Young Performer Concert is an initiative taken by Kawai Pianos and Theme to provide a platform to young and up and coming musicians. On November 21, 5 pm, Usha Aron (piano) and Johnson J W (music theatre) will perform at Theme Piano World, 817, Girija, 8th Block, 20th Main, Koramangala.

Carnatic concert

Ganjam is hosting, Flights of Fantasy, a two-day Carnatic music extravaganza at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall from November 20 and 21 at 6:30 pm. There will be performances by Dr N Ramani and Chitravina N Ravikiran, Sanjay Subrahmanyan and Bombay Jayashri. Sufi poetry

Seeking the Beloved, a festival of poetry by 17th century poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, featuring folk singers from Kutch, poetry readings and evocative story telling of the love legends which feature in the Sufi poetry, will be held at Sophia School auditorium, Sophia High School, 70, Palace Road on November 21, 6 pm to 10 pm. ‘Flying Cats’

Flying Cats will present a jazz-rock concert at BFlat on November 20, 8.30 pm. Sangoma Everett from the USA will be on drums; Mishko M’Ba from France will be on bass and Holger Jetter from Germany will be on electric violin. The Flying Cats are a seasoned, international trio, who play mostly original, contemporary jazz. They have been performing all over the world, in many diverse styles and formations.

‘Winter Fest’

Just Dance presents the 7th Annual Winter Fest till December 4. The intensive dance workshop will be called Learn, Perform, Party. Workshops will be held in Jive and Funk, Cha Cha Cha and Bachata, Salsa, Bollywood and Casino de Rueda. The venues will be Alliance Francaise and Just Dance, 13 Mosque Road, 2nd Floor, Frazer Town. English play

 Yours Truly Theatre is hosting a musical interactive theatre performance, Bhagwaan Dhoondo, a play in English play on November 21 at 7 pm at ADA Ranga Mandira, JC Road.

The play is directed by Ranji David and Nandini Rao.  The music is by band Aagam a Carnatic rock band.

Theatre

Antharanga amateur theatre group is hosting a seven-day drama festival Rangah Saptaha till November 21 at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar.

Leading theatre troupes like Kala Gangotri, Antharanga, Sanchaya, Rupaantara will perform on the occasion. For details call, 26671585.
