Dubai industrialist not aware of land deal

He spoke to a news channel from Dubai and reacted to reports which said he transferred 2.5 acres of land of the total 11.5 acres to a firm in which Yeddyurappa’s sons are directors, in order to get the remaining portion of the land denotified.

Shetty owns 11.5 acres in Srirampura and it was notified for Arkavathy Layout by BDA in 2004. He moved the court against the acquisition of land. He won the case in the Supreme Court and appealed to the Chief Minister to denotify the said land. He wanted to set up a hospital and quarters for the hospital staff in the land.

He said Yeddyurappa denotified the land after the Supreme Court gave the verdict in his favour. “For the last two years many had shown interest in purchasing a portion of the land. I sold 2.5 acres. But I do not know if Yeddyurappa’s sons are the directors of the firm that bought the land,” he said.

He added that a lawyer, who possessed general power of attorney (GPA) for his properties in Bangalore, did the transaction in his behalf and he was not aware who bought the land.
