Accusing the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board of acquiring fertile land from farmers in the name of industrial development, the Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene demanded immediate suspension of the Board.

The KIADB is recklessly buying land with the excuse of setting up industries and to please industrialists. Farmers are at the receiving end of this injustice. A department that is a threat to agricultural activities should be immediately suspended, demanded Sangha president Kodihalli Chandrashekhar at a press conference on Friday.

‘Real estate agent’
The Board is working like a real estate firm and has acquired lakhs of acres of land. In a hurry to buy as much land as possible in many places including Bellary and Mysore, it is involved in illegal activities greatly, accused Chandrashekhar.

The land scam is coming to light in phases. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, BJP state president K S Eeshwarappa, minister Katta Subramania Naidu and many other important and influential people are involved in it. Chandrashekhar insisted that such people accept moral responsibility for their acts and resign from their posts.

Empty promises

Referring to the serious water shortage problem in Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, he said that politicians like Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily and the Chief Minister are fooling people by promising implemenation of permanent irrigation projects.
“They will promise thousands of things during their tenure, but no action will be taken to fulfill their promises,” he accused.

Rajya Raitha Sangha leaders Jaddiyappa Desai, Muniraju and others were present at the press conference.
