Hours after being sworn in, the new CM said that he won’t tolerate efforts to tarnish the image of Hyderabad as a global investment destination. Reddy also voiced his determination to fulfil the dream of the late YSR Reddy to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister.

Reddy was sworn in at a simple function in the Raj Bhavan by Governor E L Narasimhan, who administered the former Speaker of the state Assembly the oath of office and secrecy at 12:14 pm. The 49-year-old from Chittoor district took oath in Telugu.

The ceremony was attended by former chief minister K Rosaiah, AICC members Veerappa Moily, Ghulam Nabi Azad, state Congress chief D Srinivas and former ministers in Rosaiah’s Cabinet.

Opposition Leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu, a bitter critic of Kiran Kumar Reddy and Jaganmohan Reddy skipped the ceremony.

Later, the chief minister made his first official visit to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and met patients receiving free medical treatment under the state government’s pet scheme “Arogya Shree”.

While addressing a press conference on issues like the possible size and constitution of his new cabinet, the chief minister left everything to the party high command and said he had no problem working with anyone.
