In a press statement in Bangalore, Yeddyurappa, who also holds the finance portfolio, said the state government had mobilised Rs 34,259 crore during April-November 2010, compared to Rs 28,522 crore during the same period last year.

The growth of commercial taxes at 31 per cent was the highest compared to other states in South India, the statement said. The state government had earmarked a total outlay of Rs 6,270 crore for beneficiary oriented schemes for 2010-11. The schemes, including Bhagyalakshmi, food subsidy, social security pension, free electricity to IP sets and crop loans at three per cent interest, benefited a total of 1.84 crore people, he said.

At the same time, the chief minister rubbished allegations made by the Opposition that the state was surviving on assistance from the Centre. “The assistance from the Government of India in the form of State’s share in Central taxes and grants have remained stagnant. As compared to Rs 8,562 crore received during April-November 2009, the receipts during the same period this year has been Rs 8,546 crore,” the statement said.
