Extra marital affair led to ACP's suicide

The preliminary investigations led the detectives to a bar woman with whom Gaikwad,  just seven months away from retirement, had extra-marital relations for quite some time.
However, the woman and her husband allegedly shot her romps with the ACP and showed the pictures to him, threatening to make them public unless he gave them money, it is learnt.

The ACP agreed to pay

Rs 25,000 per month. Only two months back, the woman barged into the Dahisar division office of the ACP and insulted him in front of others for not paying her in time, a police inspector involved with the investigations said. On Monday, Gaikwad received over three dozen calls on his mobile. It was after these calls that Gaikwad went into his cabin, asked an orderly to bring his service revolver and then shot himself in the head.
