The class X student of a school in Paschim Vihar was apprehended in Vikaspuri yesterday while he was allegedly travelling in the stolen motorcycle bearing the number plate of his own two-wheeler.

"He stole the motorcycle from Vikaspuri a week ago after his two-wheeler gifted by his father was stolen," V Renganathan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), said.

The student, a resident of Vishnu Garden, allegedly managed to steal a motorcycle from near Lal Dental Clinic in Vikaspuri a week ago and replaced the number plate with his own motorcycle number, he said.

On verification through ZIPNet, an official internet database, it came to light that the chasis and engine number of the recovered two-wheeler was the same as that of the one stolen from Vikaspuri.

"He was passing through Vikaspuri when our constables noticed him. They asked him to show the registration papers of the motorcycle which he could not do," Renganathan said.
