The Bagepalli police based their investigation on information given by a passerby who found Sharada’s body buried in Burumadugu village in the taluk a few days ago. Later, the body was exhumed and sent for post mortem.

Sharada (26), a native of Venkatareddipalli in Chintamani taluk, was a widow and addicted to drinking. She was living with Srinivas, also a native of Venkatareddipalli in a rented house at Mandur in Bangalore North taluk, police said adding that the owner of the house had directed the couple to vacate as they quarrelled frequently. Srinivas, in a fit of rage, asphyxiated Sharada with a rope when the fight between them turned ugly, they added.

Srinivas, on the pretext of vacating the house, loaded all the household articles including a drum containing Sharada’s body into a vehicle with the help of his brother and came to a house in Burumadugu.

Late in the night Srinivas, along with his brother buried the body in the vicinity of the house, the police said. However, a passerby who noticed them digging in the neighbourhood informed the police.

The team led by SP Dr T D Pawar and comprising DySP H T Duggappa, Bagepalli Sub-Inspector J N Anand Kumar, K M Srinivasppa and staff solved the case.
