The consortium, which also includes BS TransComm and Simplex Infrastructure, will be establishing a 210 km, 765 kv transmission system from Raichur to Solapur and operating it for 35-years after completion, a release issued here by Patel Engineering said.
Bagging the contract from REC Transmission Project Company through a tariff-based competitive bidding on build-operate-own-maintain (BOOM) basis also results in Patel Engineering foraying into independent power transmission, the release added.
The project "is for the execution of the synchronous inter-connection between the southern region and western region spanning 210 kms from Raichur to Solapur," it said.
The project is expected to be complete by March 2014.
