Sugar cane growers urge Ramdas to intervene

Speaking at a media conference here, Sunaygowda warned of carrying out intense protest if the the Minister failed to heed to their demands.He said even though administrative board of Ambika Sugars Limited has taken the factory on contract basis four years ago. However, they still haven’t paid any financial remuneration for the contract.

Illegal
Accusing the board of using public property illegally, Sunaygowda said that ` 11.85 crore is yet to be paid to the State Government. Furthermore, he said that funds are not provided to farmer even after 45 days of procuring sugar cane. Instead, the transportation rates have been increased from ` 70 to 105 increasing the burden on farmers.

Problems remain
Even though Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta, who is the special officer for the factory, and Sugar Director Monappa visited the region the problems still remain.

Intensive agitation
He urged Ramdas to turn his attention towards the plight of farmers. He warned of intensive agitations if the Minister fails to solve their problems. Association Secretary Maalanayakanahalli Mahadev, Mysore Vasu, Krishnegowda and Mahesh were present.
