JOIN USJD(S) workers were holding a road show by violating the election code of conduct near Bettadalli village in Shanthalli constituency of the Kodagu zilla panchayat. A case has been registered against JD(S) leader and former zilla panchayat president V M Vijaya.
A case has been booked by the Taluk Election Officer Dr M R Ravi against Congress candidate K P Chandrakala for violating the code of conduct.
Ravi found Congress workers pasting posters carrying Chandrakala’s photos on walls while conducting surprise visit on Wednesday.
Boozed teacher caught
A teacher, who was deputed for the election duty, was arrested for consuming alcohol during duty hours. The Election Officer found Nataraju, a teacher of Chikkabandara Government Primary School, in an intoxicated condition while he was on duty. Nataraju was arrested after medical check-up.
Meanwhile, a show-cause notice has been slapped on Assistant Director of the Veterinary Department K L Lakshmikanth for failing to report on duty on Thursday. Lakshmikanth had also bunked the training programme held for officers on election duty last week.
