JOIN US“The capacity of CBI to resolve even normal cases has been completely demolished. CBI is now being involved for political management of cases in which the Centre is involved,” Jaitley told reporters in the City.
The CBI, he said, had also failed in the Ruchika case involving a senior police officer. The government and the CBI must seriously introspect in these cases and culprits should be identified, he said.
Congress flayed
He ridiculed Congress’ efforts to shift the blame on Sanjay Gandhi for the excesses during the Emergency.
“It may or may not be a reflection on the family members, but certainly a reflection on the then Prime Minister”, he said referring to the late Sanjay Gandhi being blamed pointedly in a book released by the Congress.
Jaitley said Indira Gandhi should be blamed for excesses during emergency as she was the head of the government. To a query on BJP National General Secretary Ananth Kumar’s alleged links with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia, Jaitley rubbished them as “baseless”.
