Samjhauta blasts leaks Congress bid to divert attention: BJP

"The Samjhauta blasts case probe is a diversionary tactic of the Congress to divert attention from the corruption charges it is facing," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

He said that "such leaks", of RSS leader Swami Aseemanand's confessional statement, can also dilute the stand against cross-border terror and give Pakistan a chance to blame India.
"They (Pakistan) have not replied to our dossier on the 26/11 attacks. Are you not giving Pakistan a handle to reopen investigations?" he asked.

Prasad said the BJP is not opposed to investigation and it does not link terror to any religion.

"The BJP has always said that terror has no religion. We have never used terms like 'saffron' and 'Muslim' terror. Go ahead with the investigation and prove the charges. It is just a part of the Congress strategy to divert heat from the charges it is facing," he said.

Swami Aseemanand, an arrested Hindu right-wing leader, is being probed for his alleged involvement in the bombing of the Samjhauta Express, an India-Pakistan peace train, in 2007 in which 68 people, mostly Pakistanis returning home, were killed. Aseemanand along with other Hindu activists is alleged to be involved in the Ajmer Dargah, Malegaon mosque and Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid bombings too.
