Airport sources said as the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about engine glitches on way to the city airport, it was allowed to land half an hour before schedule with "full emergency procedures".
While all other incoming/outgoing flights were stopped during that time, standard emergency measures were in place with CISF, police and airport officials on stand by, the sources said.
The 18 passengers and three crew members all came out safely after the landing, they said.
This was the second time in a fortnight that a Deccan chartered flight from Jamshedpur made an emergency landing at the airport. On December 24 last year, a chartered plane of the airline met with a similar fate.
