Girl's death leaves sour note at 'Chennai Sangamam'

At a football ground venue in Tiruvottiyur in north Chennai, where one of the events of “Chennai Sangamam” was held, a mile-long cracker with shatteringly high decibel levels was set off by some ruling party enthusiasts to grandly welcome DMK MP Kanimozhi, gracing the occasion. One of its hot splinters reportedly injured two-and-half-year-old girl Bhavanisree.

The child was rushed to a private hospital nearby and later shifted to a specialty children’s hospital at Nungambakkam where she died, sources said.
