Bomb scare shuts Rajiv Chowk station for one hour

Last Updated 27 January 2011, 13:40 IST

The station, one of the busiest in the Delhi Metro network, was not evacuated after police got a telephone call at 2.51 p.m. warning that a bomb would explode soon, a Delhi Metro official told IANS.

Commuters were stopped from entering the station at 3.12 p.m. and it was thrown open to people only an hour later. However, trains continued to ply through the station, in the heart of the city, even as police combed the station complex for explosives.

The interchange facility at the station remained in use during the episode.
