Youths flock job mela hoping bright prospects

On the first day, the companies held interviews for the post of helpers, garment factory workers and other skilled based employees. The dropouts of SSLC, PUC,ITI, diploma and job oriented courses attended the interview.

The interview for degree, engineering and post graduate candidates would be held  on Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm. The candidates with marks cards and CV, were jostling near the stalls for registration of their names.

A few aspirants were unhappy as the interview was held for the post of security guards.

Earlier, inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Dr P C Jaffer promised to hold such melas in the future to provide jobs for the unemployed youths. Besides, arrangements would be made to impart training in different skills for the candidates.

Commissioner of Employment Exchange Department C R Umashankar said the government was making all efforts to solve the problem of unemployment by holding such melas.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Jayaram, Joint Director of Industries and Commerce H V Venkataram, Deputy Director of Employment Exchange Department Ramesh Babu and Assistant Director Rani were present.
