Miscreants assault DySP, jeep driver over trivial reason

According to police, the mishap occurred when Nagappa and his wife were returning to the city after attending the last rites of his mother in Bhadravathi. At that time, a speeding Tata Indica car came from  Arsikere side and hit the jeep that was parked near Diary circle. This ensued a wordy duel between the police officer and the car driver.

The car driver called up his friends and within minutes around 20 persons came to the spot. Heated debate took place between Nagappa and others. In the melee, the miscreants assaulted Nagappa who is said to be a BP and diabetic patient and the jeep driver, Noor Ali.

Suvarna, wife of Nagappa, alleged that mob threatened to kill Noor Ali by throwing him into the Gorur dam. However, the mob fled from the spot after the arrival of police personnel. Noor Ali has been injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The car driver, Harish has been taken into custody.
