Indus pride and Epson India Private Ltd have teamed up together and provided a platform for both amateur and professional photographers to win fame and recognition by showcasing their passion and skill in photography through a contest titled Passions of Karnataka.

The contest will be judged by one of the country's most eminent photographers Raghu Rai. “India is full of energy and diversity. The is very little that is mundane or colourless in this country. Whether it’s the synergy of Bollywood with its musical extravaganzas, the colourful festivals, the clothes and food of the people, there is a life and vibrancy that is exciting at so many different levels. Karnataka as a multi-cultural and lingual state is the epitome of this diverse pageantry and that is why we are basing this contest here,” said Derek Jones from Sabmiller.

“The thing about photography contest is that you have nothing to lose by entering them. Whether you are an amateur or professional photographer you will learn to take a more critical look at your own work and improve your skills. Sharing and interacting at some level with others in the field and at the very least bragging rights about having participated in a contest are other benefits,” said Raghu Rai. He also spoke about the multifaceted panorama that is India and the never-ending dearth of subjects that can keep a photographer here busy forever. He hoped that the contest would provide a forum for budding and established photographers to come forward and showcase their work drawing attention to issues and highlighting subjects in a manner that only a well-focused camera lens can. The contest will begin on July 15 and the last date for entries is August 31. The winner in each category will receive a trophy and an SLR camera while the runner-up will get an Epson photo printer.
