Feel proud of language, culture: Sammelan president

In his address, he said all schools, colleges, government and private institutions and offices should patronise Kannada sanghas to promote the language. Such committees should host programmes that give an impetus to usage of Kannada at least once in a week. The employees from outside states could also start a Kannada organisation to help support the initiative of Kannadigas to promote the language. Each member of a family should become member of Kannada Sahitya Parishat and the every home must subscribe a Kannada daily, he opined. 

Ramesh said the Sahitya Parishat should work towards establishing a similar body in the school and college level under the banner, District Students' Sahitya Parishat. It would imbibe a love and passion for the language and promote its usage from the school level, he added.  He expressed concern about losing heritage and culture of Hassan and Karnataka state. He said sammelan should not only contribute for the growth of language, but also focus on enriching the local tradition, culture and the folk art, he stated.
