Replying to a calling attention notice of National Conference member Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo in Legislative Assembly, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said that no death due to incidents of avalanches in any area of Kishtwar district has taken place during the current fiscal.
He said as many as 8 persons have died in district Kishtwar during the months of January and February 2011, but these did not die due to any natural calamity and therefore no compensation has been paid to the families of the deceased.
He said the cause of death of one person Ghulam Nabi of Marwah out of these 8 deaths reported is still being probed and if it is found to have happened because of any notified natural calamity, the relief as admissible under rules will be paid to the next of kin of the deceased.
