Gajanana Chouhan couple was standing in the queue at entry gate of  Rs 20,  to Goddess Chamundeshwari Temple, when they became a victim of pickpocket.

K R police who have registered a case said, there was a huge rush at the gate, as the main entrance was closed for some reasons. It was at that time, the miscreants may have taken the advantage. The wad of notes kept in the purse had been lifted, after removing the same without giving room for any suspicion. The victims discovered about the theft later.

Man ends life

A man accused of murdering his wife for dowry has allegedly committed suicide in Metagalli Police Station’s limits, on the outskirts.

The deceased has been identified as Raju (40) son of Jogaiah, Lakshmipura village in the taluk.

Raju had hung self to the ceiling, with a saree, when his father who returned home on Saturday discovered the incident.

Raju, his father and his four sisters were facing charges of murdering  Shantha, Raju’s wife, a year ago.

Shantha had hung self at the same house. Her parents had lodged a complaint with the local police alleging that she had been done to death by her husband and his relatives.

Acting on this, a case had been booked under section 304B (killing for dowry) of IPC.

Both Raju and his father had been arrested in the case and had been in jail for sometime, before being let out on bail.

Raju is suspected to have taken the extreme step on Friday night, when his father had gone to invite his daughters for the festival of village deity.

Metagalli Police have registered a case.

Commits suicide

Unable to bear the prolonged illness, a woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze here on Sunday.

Sowbhagya, a resident of eighth cross, Ashokapuram is the deceased.

A construction worker, she had lost a kidney after falling from a height, while on work several years ago.

She poured kerosene before setting afire at the toilet of her house in the evening.
Ashokapuram police have registered a case.

Youth electrocuted

A 25-year-old youth was electrocuted near Sewage Farm here on Sunday.

Cheluva (25), a resident of the slum near Veerashaiva Burial Grounds in Vidyaranyapuram is that unfortunate.

He along with four of his friends was searching for the pigs that had strayed out, when he came in contact with the live wire. A friend of Cheluva who tried to rescue him survived with burns.

Vidyaranyapuram Police have registered a case.
