A few councillors are said to have been making attempts to move no confidence motion against the president and vice-president of the City Municipal Council.
The councillors of Congress, JD(S) and Republican party with their leader contemplating no confidence motion have headed to Delhi to seek support of Union Minister K H Muniyappa.
The no-confidence motion requires the support of 25 members. None of the political parties were able to secure a clear majority in the last elections.
There are eight Congress members, seven each of JD(S) and Republican Party of India, four of BJP, one of CPI(M) and seven independents in the 35-member City Municipal
Council.
Out of these, seven independents, BJP and JD(S) members have elected M Bhaktavatsalam of JD(S) and Sangeetha Kumari of BJP as president and vice-president, respectively, in March 2008.
