Tribals stage stir against delay in implementing Act

Rajya Adivasi Andolana Samithi President Jyothi Vittal alleged that owing to the negligence of the Gram panchayats, the selection of beneficiaries under the Act is getting delayed. Though hundreds of beneficiaries had submitted their applications under the Act, only five have been given title deeds so far.

The Gram Panchayat is denying to collect applications for community rights under the Act. The Gram Panchayat has failed to provide basic facilities to the tribal colony in the villages. Many are supplied with contaminated water, she alleged.

She urged the authorities to provide basic infrastructure to the tribals at the earliest.
