JOIN USThe mutilated bodies of Rajni, 25, a resident of Rampur village here, her one-year-old son Yuvraj and three-year-old daughter Khushi were Friday evening found on the railway track in Khanpur town.
"Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide," police inspector Phool Chandra told reporters in Ghazipur, some 300 km from Lucknow.
"Preliminary investigations reveal that the woman took the extreme step after being tortured by her husband and in-laws for dowry," he added.
Police have registered a case for subjecting a woman to cruelty and dowry death against four members of Rajni's in-laws.
"All the four people, including the woman's husband, are absconding. We have detained some relatives of the in-laws to ascertain their whereabouts," Chandra said.
