When every vacant space is turning out to be an open invitation to deface the city, nothing proves a better help, other than god in dealing with it. And, that’s what late B A Nanaiah’s family has deployed to retain the charm of a donation they did for a public cause.

A bus shelter at Poornachandra Tejasvi Circle at the corner of Sri Cauvery School on Adhichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar, is nothing short of a temple.

Both the exteriors and interiors have been neatly painted  with leaves on the pillars, and  landscape and waterfalls in the background with a shivalinga,  on wall inside, suffice to create devout environs. It was just five months ago, on December last, the donors thought of taking godly route, to get rid of publicity materials disfiguring the structure. To facilitate the bus users, route numbers of KSRTC buses that stops here have also been painted, besides its name -- Cauvery School Stop.

B A Nanaiah, the owner of famous Ritz Hotel decided to construct a shelter for passengers, when the Rotary Mysore, the organisation he was involved in as its member, asked him to take up a project.

More than the project, it was also a memorial in the name of his elder son B N Ganapathi who passed away in1989. He was in mid-20s when he died of cardiac arrest. Ganapathi was an avid sports buff with hockey being his love, recalls his brother B N Aiyanna the younger son of Nanaiah. He (Nanaiah) was also the founder of Sri Cauvery School. The shelter took shape a decade ago and since the very day, the family has been maintaining it honouring the brain behind the noble deed.

Similar is the method, most of the property owners have employed to keep away those who urinate on the walls of corner houses or in passages. Tiles carrying pictures of gods and goddesses adorn such walls and has proven succesful in keeping such trouble makers at bay.
