Air traffic to tourist spots to go up to 40% this summer:Study

"Although airlines are geared up to hike airfares during the peak summer travel, passenger traffic to popular tourist destinations in India and abroad is likely to escalate by 35-40 per cent this year compared to last year," Assocham study said.

In India, destinations which are popular among tourists include Goa, Kerala and Puducherry, while abroad tourists hot-spots comprise Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai and Singapore.

Assocham Secretary General DS Rawat said, "With huge disposable income, senior corporate executives and government officials holding senior positions do not mind spending more on holidays." Further, the chamber said, Indian hospitality industry is expecting an upsurge in the tourist footfall this season.

It said, hoteliers are also expected to increase tariffs by 25 to 30 per cent year-on-year.
